Now we start to get into the good stuff. The Stone Plate is a great piece of armor that you can use for the majority of the game and is extremely valuable if you can get it early in the game. You have access to them as early as the "Wil's Departure" scenario within the Ruins of Hahn. Inside the room that holds the Pocket Dragon treasure, the skeleton glyph will spawn a battle with a blue-caped skeleton. You will need to party battle these in order to get the Stone Plate, which can be quite a task that early in the game. I usually wait until the "Anima Faith Fiasco" in order to farm both Stone Plates and/or Dead Stones (More on the latter later). If you do try during Wil's Depature, Delta Petra the Ghosts to try to instant kill them.
The Stone Plate prevents petrification; one of only three items to do this. While hardly useful for the majority of the game, if you pass on defeating the Stone Lord during the Last Megalith, the Egg will use a devastating attack that causes petrification. Stone Plates should be considered if you decide to take your game in that direction.

SaGa Frontier II - Protector
The Protector is a fairy decent piece of armor that is readily available throughout the game. Anytime you can visit Vogelang after a scenario, you can journey to the Vogelang Canyon where both the Armor Beetle and Horn Buffalo drop this piece of armor with decent probability.

SaGa Frontier II - Gem Particle
The Gem Particle is one of the worst accessories in the game; yet still only available through an enemy drop. If you miss the"Gustave & The Pirates" scenario, you may not see it at all. You'll almost certainly see the Slimes drop it during the scenario. You can also get it from the one battle Wil fights with monsters on board the Pirate Ship during "Wil vs. Egg".

SaGa Frontier II - Funny Cap
This is much better than the last two items. While not spectacular, the Funny Cap is better than any of the helmets you can acquire until later in the game. It is held by the Evil enemy. While these show up sporadically in several areas, your best chance at this item is in the Wide Underground Passage during the "Conquest of Wide" scenario. Toward the beginning of the dungeon, the sole skeleton glyph will yield a duel battle with an Evil. As far as I know, this is the ONLY place you can duel Evils; so don't miss this chance. If you plan to face the Megalith Beast multiple times (Especially with solo Wil or Rich) you'll want to pick this piece up simply for its ability to resist Sleep.

SaGa Frontier II - House Guard
Yeah...this one isn't even worth the trouble, but it IS a one-of-a-kind item. It's marginally better than the Buckler, but Stone Shields are a much better choice. You can get this from any battle containing a Housekeeper. You can encounter them as duels in "Showdown! Alexei", also later on during "Edelritter" which make for your best chances at getting this item.
Update: As it turns out, you can buy this in Westia during the "To Cast a Rainbow" scenario. Still, very easy to miss.

SaGa Frontier II - Golden Axe
This is my first post in a series of rare item drops for SaGa Frontier II. This journey helped inspire the creation of this blog. I'm currently about halfway through this play, so the next few posts will be screenshots and information that has already taken place.
The allure of a save file with all of SaGa II's rare items obtained has peeked my interest for years. While not as absurd as some games, SaGa II's drop rates for some items are rather notorious. A lot of items will never be seen by most players without an extreme amount of patience. I began this journey in an attempt to acquire them all in one save file. The items included are ones that cannot be found or bought; only ones that are obtained through monster drops
Our first rare item in the game is the Golden Axe. While most players know this item dropped WAY later in the game at the Old Battlefield, your actual best bet is during the "Desert Megalith" scenario. If you search the lower pond in the canyon (Not the one near the Vogelang exit) you will occasionally be attacked by a group of Hoppers. The Golden Axe is the #3 drop (Ouch). You can fight this battle numerous times, but only during the "Desert Megalith" scenario. Wipe them out quick with Firestorm.
